the recent sucess of 20/20 cricket in both England and Australia and i'm sure other cricketing nations surely has to be good for the game ! however there are a few that are saying that it could destroy the one day 50 over a side game. in my veiw i think a couple of 20/20 games is good as it attracts all types of cricket fans , as long as it dosnt get over used ! your veiws on this CRICKET TOPIC ?

Somerset are reigning champions, after all!!It's a rare win for us,so definitely take an interest!
Having said that,I did say before that it doesn't promote proper cricket and genuine cricket lovers like us are wary that it could affect badly the general techniques of players higher up.
Having said about me being happy to win the 20/20,I do have reservations as to the type of newly interested fan...can you say they'll be interested in REAL cricket having been introduced to the game via 20/20(of course,I mean Test cricket as real cricket)?
I think not,and if they do stay in the game, they'll be 'sloggers' and are possibly footy fans ordinarily who fill the summer time going to 20/20,getting drunk and giving cricket a bad rep!I hope I'm wrong!

I think 20/20 is a good addition to the game, not because it is of particular interest to genuine cricket lovers (who follows the results?)but because it creates interest with youngsters who might otherwise not give cricket the time and attention it deserves. 20/20 has until recentl years been associated with a conmpensatory beer match after a particularly disappointing proper one when all the joke bowlers get to turn their arm. Maybe there's a good opportunity for a brewery to sponser a league. What do you think Craig, the Fosters beer match league?

I have spoken to a few professionals, and they don't really like playing 20/20. They want (and they expect that it will happen soon), the 20/20 teams to be selected from top club sides or acadamey sides.
This will mean that a lot of the fans wont turn up because the 'big' names are not playing, and defeats the object of 20/20.

It remains to be seen if it'll damage cricket as us purists like it,maybe there is a spot for it,but not too much!Players are paid by us,so it is their jobs and frankly anybody who plays cricket at county level or above who doesn't want to play it,don't play is what I say!
You haven't answered my question-have you EVER watched a county 2nd X! game? There is no way 20/20 will survive with 2nd X1 players taking part....it'll basically be like the one-day game they play now-no one goes to those either!
In order to justify TV and fans going after work like I and a lot of people do and also to be able to charge the amount they do,1st X1 players HAVE to play.If you were saying players don't like playing 20/20 because it'll affect their game, maybe I can take that point, but if they genuinely don't ENJOY ANY FORM of cricket,I think they shouldn't play the game!
have a go MPH
